I’m 120 pounds and pretty skinny. For the past few months I’ve done push ups every day and I notice my chest and upper arms look more toned. The problem is I got a pain in my back lifting something heavy up. How do I build muscle all over my body so I can be strong all over and not just my upper arms and chest?????? I want to be able to lift someone else who is heavier than me without throwing out my back.

ok maybe not inches but at least noticeable results like slightly bigger/ripped muscles, I have until December

I have an I-beam in my basement that I can do pull-ups on. Other than that and push-ups what can I do?

I’ve also heard that doing push-ups with your feet up high against a wall is a pretty good exercise too, is this true?

harkkam asked: I just started working out, I have kept my caloric intake the same amount as usual but I have shifted it to more protein. I am eating 1g of protein per pound of body weight. I was curious on how long does it take to gain muscle.
I weigh 150 lbs, I am 5′11”
And if I want to build muscle will I have to consume more calories than I am now or will I just need to eat more protein, since protein is the only macro molecule that is used in building muscle through via amino acids as building blocks. So it makes no sense to eat more carbs or fat than I am at the moment to build muscle.

I was laid off earlier in the year and after a couple months realized I gained about 40 pounds. I found and stuck with a good diet, cardo exercised daily and now at 200 pounds for a height of 5′11. I have a bowflex and would now like to tone myself but not get ripped. I know eating protein is crucial to building muscle, but what are the best times to eat? I’m on a budget and can really only afford eggs and chicken. Thank you.
